Attorney Ron Gregson has negotiated settlements and won bench and jury trials in a wide range of employment cases. Below are summaries of some of them:
- Age discrimination trial against a Federal agency. The Regional Director of the agency replaced an experienced 54 year-old woman with his 38 year-old girl friend, claiming that she was more competent despite her lack of experience. Damages and fees awarded totaling approximately $250,000.
- Two sexual harassment/hostile work environment cases against an auto dealership. Salesmen, one of whom exposed himself to a saleswoman, used obscenities and mimicked sexual acts in the presence of female employees on a daily basis over a period of several months without criticism. Each case settled for six figures.
- Age discrimination trial brought by successful 57 year-old salesman fired by his supervisor who was 25 years younger. Supervisor overheard saying that company needed "young blood". Damages awarded of approximately $300,000.
- Sexual harassment case against a State agency. Male employee blamed female co-worker for causing him to lust after her. Lied about their relationship, claiming that they had dated and seen a movie together months before the movie came out. Case settled for six figures.
- Grocery store manager with heart condition placed under surveillance, accused of theft of sandwich, fired, prosecuted for misdemeanor; "sandwich" was heart medication. Case settled for six figures.
- 58 year-old woman fired by State agency. Proved at trial that she was overloaded with work assignments compared to younger men. Age and sex discrimination verdict totaling approximately $300,000.
- Female convention planner at hotel fired for incompetence, replaced by male who was given more clerical assistance, better equipment, larger office and higher salary. Sex and equal pay claims settled for approximately $90,000.
- Executive was induced to resign his position to take a position out of state. Employer withdrew promise of new position 48 hours before executive was to begin work. Claims of fraud and breach of contract were filed in Federal court and settled within weeks for approximately $50,000.
- Longterm employee of paving company, 55 year-old male executive, fired for no reason that employer could support, replaced by man 20 years younger. Age discrimination case settled for approximately $150,000.
Ron is currently litigating a claim of disability/handicap discrimination for a 48 year-old woman who was denied reasonable accommodation; a truth-in-hiring fraud claim for a 50 year-old woman who moved to a new state to find intolerable working conditions that had not been disclosed by her employer; and a nurse practitioner who was constructively discharged and claims that her physician supervisors violated state and Federal law.
